j’invite le spectateur à entrer dans le hall de la Maison Internationale de CIUP où un œil géant l’attend et où il est toujours question d’œil et de rencontres peu ordinaires.
L’architecture de la Maison Internationale présente à l’intérieur un nombre d’arcades qui mènent aux portes principales, d’autres arcades sont édifiées uniquement à but décoratif créant des niches dans les murs. En faisant cette prospection du lieu, j’ai eu l’idée de transformer une de ces niches en une ouverture dans le mur. L’idée de départ était de photographier le paysage de l’extérieur, en faire un tirage grandeur nature et le coller à l’intérieur de la niche. A travers cette ouverture présumée, le spectateur verra enfin un œil géant à la verticale, trahissant une position de voyeurisme.
L’œil, forme pour moi un vaste champ de prospection, d’où sa présence fréquente dans mes réalisations et mes dispositifs plastiques. L’œil avec sa simple présence évoque plusieurs concepts et notions à la fois, l’apparence, le reflet, la surveillance et l’altérité…L’œil condense l’image même de la peur de l’inconnu, du noir et de l’autre, de la panique face à la censure, étant entre autres, l’œil de la conscience ou l’œil de la justice et ses caméras de surveillance. L’œil, la « friandise cannibale » d’après l’expression de Bataille reste la source et l’objet d’une grande inquiétude et aussi d’une intarissable expression.

I invite the spectator to enter the hall of the International House of CIUP in France where a giant eye is awaiting the other crossing eyes. It is always question of eye and unusual meetings.The architecture of the International House has inside a number of arches that lead to the main doors, other arches are built solely for decorative purposes creating niches in the walls. While doing this survey of the place, I had the idea to transform one of these niches into an opening in the wall. The first idea was to photograph the landscape from the outside, make a life-sized print and paste it inside the niche. Through this presumed opening, the viewer will finally see a giant eye vertically, divulging a position of voyeurism.
For me, the eye is a vast field of prospection, hence its frequent presence in my works and my plastic projects. The eye with its mere presence evokes several concepts and notions at once like appearance, reflection, surveillance and alterity. The eye gathers the very image of the fear of the unknown, the blackness and the other. Also, it conveys the panic in front of censorship, the eye of the consciousness or the eye of the justice and their surveillance cameras. The eye, the « cannibal delicacy » according to the expression of Bataille remains the source and the object of a great anxiety and also of an inexhaustible expression.
